PULLMAN, Wash. — Palouse Conservation District invites community members to join the next session of the Conservation Talk Series, Nature-Based Fire Mitigation Strategies for the Palouse, on Thursday, January 8th at 6:00 p.m. This virtual presentation, offered via Zoom, will feature Gavin Doree from Rainier Seeds, who will explore how natural systems can play a critical role in fire prevention, mitigation, and defensive planning.
As wildland fires increasingly impact communities at the interface of natural areas and developed spaces, public and private entities alike are turning to natural technologies as part of their fire defense toolkit. This presentation will highlight how native grasses and seed blends can be strategically incorporated to strengthen fire resilience from the ground up.
Participants will learn practical approaches to integrating nature-based solutions into broader fire mitigation strategies for those protecting a home in town, managing a small acreage farm, or operating a commercial farm or ranch.
This event is free and open to the public. To sign up, visit:Â https://www.palousecd.org/post/upcoming-talk-01-08-26-nature-based-fire-mitigation-strategies
