January 3rd, Free Ski Day at Park N’ Ski and Select Idaho State Parks

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Department Parks and Recreation (IDPR) is excited to announce that January 3rd will be Free Ski Day at Park N’ Ski areas across the state managed by the Recreation Bureau.

The Park N’ Ski Program is funded by user fees and managed by wonderful partner organizations to provide outdoor recreation opportunities to Idahoans and visitors alike. Many events are happening throughout the state – see more details below!
Idaho City Park N’ Ski Area: Due to a lack of snow, the Free Ski Day events for the Idaho City Backcountry Yurts are cancelled. Check the Idaho Non-Motorized Trails Facebook page for updates on snow conditions and future events.
Fourth of July Pass Park N’ Ski Area: The Panhandle Nordic Club’s free ski day celebration will include an event during which participants can ski or snowshoe to collect cards and get the best poker hand. The cost to participate is $12 for adults, $5 for kids under 13, or $25 for families. Registration will open at 10 AM and the drawing will be at 1:30 PM. This fundraiser, with prizes provided by community and club members, will support trail maintenance and grooming in the area.
Palouse Divide Park N’ Ski Area: The Palouse Divide Nordic Ski Clubs’ free ski day activities will be held on January 17th and will include a free ski lesson, free gear rental, and access to the groomed trails. This event has gained popularity in recent years. As a result, if you plan to attend, please register here. Free ski lessons are provided throughout the winter months at this location.
Ponderosa State Park: Free Snowshoe Day will take place at Ponderosa State Park with entry fees and winter access fees waved for the day. From 10 AM- 2 PM there will be free snowshoe tours starting at the activity center at 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, and 1 PM. Rental equipment is included only during the timeframe of the lesson or tour.
